A suspect was arrested after a woman escaped a kidnapping attempt, authorities said.The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office said deputies were called to the 82 Quick Stop on U.S. Highway 82 East in the Duncanville community about 7 a.m. Tuesday.A store clerk told deputies that a man drove up to the store parking lot and asked her for a cigarette while she was outside of the store.The sheriff's office said the woman approached the man's vehicle, and that's when he allegedly grabbed her and told her to get into the vehicle.The man showed a weapon during the struggle, but the clerk was able to escape and run into the store to call for help, said the TCSO.Sgt. Josh Hastings said investigators reviewed video from the store and later located Christopher Herring, 39, who was taken into custody and charged with kidnapping in the second degree.
