A Massachusetts man is planning to buy a new car after he claimed a $50,000 Powerball prize that was set to expire in nine days.Danny Thomas told the Massachusetts State Lottery that he and his wife located the winning ticket after hearing about it and other unclaimed prizes on the radio. They proceeded to check the Powerball numbers on the Lottery website and found out they had won.The Lottery said Hudson claimed his $50,000 prize Tuesday. The winning Powerball ticket was purchased at Sunoco in Hudson on June 22, 2022.Mass Cash and Powerball prize winners have one year from the date of the drawing to claim prizes. Prizes that expire become part of the net profit that the Lottery returns to the state for distribution to all 351 cities and towns.
