NOW, WHEN YOU HAVE A GOOD PERSON LIKE HIM, HE NEEDS TO STICK AROUND. AT FIRST, DOCTORS IN CINCINNATI DIDN’T EXACTLY KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH THE LUMP UNDER HIS ARM. BREWER GOT RADIATION AT SAINT ELIZABETH’S AND THEN TRAVELED TO TEXAS TO GET THE TUMOR REMOVED. DOCTORS SAY HE’S NOW CANCER FREE. A LOT OF GREAT PEOPLE HAVE HELPED MAKE MY LIFE LIVABLE AGAIN. BREWER’S BATTLE WITH CANCER. HIS ANGELS SAY, CHANGED ALL THEIR LIVES. HE WAS SO POSITIVE. IT WAS JUST LIKE, WELL, IF ANYBODY’S GOING TO DO IT, IT’S GOING TO BE JESSE. IT WASN’T HIS TIME. HE’S GOT WORK TO DO. SEAN MCKINNON, WLWT NEWS FIVE. BREWER BELIEVES SUNBURNS GAVE HIM MELANOMA, AND HE WANTS TO HELP PREVENT SKIN CANCER. HE WANTS TO GET A LAW PASSED THAT WOULD REQUIRE PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN KENTUCKY TO MAKE SUNSCREEN ANNOUNCEMENTS THROUGHOUT THE DAY AT SCHOOL.

His brother died of a heart attack last December, prompting him to go in for a check-up.While seeing his doctor a short time later, Jesse asked about a lump that he noticed under his armpit. Brewer was diagnosed with metastatic malignant melanoma, stage 4 skin cancer.Last month, Brewer traveled to Texas, where a surgeon at MD Anderson removed the tumor from Brewer’s left arm. Previous radiation treatment took the tumor from 13.5 centimeters to 7.5.Brewer praised a special group of neighbors in Taylor Mill who call themselves "Jesse's Angels." Whether it was getting him out of the house or giving him a ride to the airport, he said support from everyone in his community saved his life.“I think it's fate that brought us all together to live right next door to each other and I just couldn't have been luckier,” Brewer said.
