SEPARATE MURDER CASE FROM 2010. A CENTRAL ALABAMA FAMILY FIGHTING FOR JUSTICE FOR THEIR MURDERED FATHER, JOE PAGE, WAS GUNNED DOWN IN A ROBBERY AT HIS GARDENDALE PHARMACY IN 1980. AND NOW, 43 YEARS LATER, HIS FAMILY SAYS THAT THEY HAVE BEEN FORCED TO RELIVE THE TRAGEDY NUMEROUS TIMES AS THE CONVICTED MURDERER HAS ASKED FOR APPEALS AND NOW A PARDON. WVTM 13, LISA CRANE LIVE IN GARDENDALE. I KNOW YOU REMEMBER THIS CASE PRETTY WELL. LISA. YEAH, YOU’RE RIGHT, GUYS. YOU KNOW, JOE PAGE WAS THE PHARMACIST HERE AT J&J DRUGS BACK WHEN I WAS IN SCHOOL HERE. HIS YOUNGEST SON WAS A CLASSMATE OF MINE. AND SO ALL OF US REMEMBER THIS MURDER VIVIDLY. AND CRIMES LIKE THIS JUST DIDN’T REALLY HAPPEN IN THIS VERY SLEEPY JEFFERSON COUNTY TOWN, ESPECIALLY TO PEOPLE YOU KNOW. NOW, I MET RODNEY PAGE HERE TODAY AT THE SCENE OF THE CRIME. IT WAS HIS DAD. HE WAS KILLED. HE WAS WITH HIS DAUGHTERS TODAY. NONE OF THEM EVER EVEN MET THEIR GRANDFATHER. RODNEY WAS ONLY 12 WHEN HIS DAD WAS SHOT AND KILLED IN 1980. THE KILLER, JACKIE SUE NICHOLS, WAS ON THE RUN FOR ALMOST A YEAR BEFORE SHE WAS ARRESTED. PROSECUTORS SAY NICHOLS ROBBED THE PHARMACY FOR DRUGS. NICHOLS WAS FROM NEARBY MOUNT OLIVE AND KNEW JOE PAIGE, WHICH IS WHY HE LED HER INTO THE PHARMACY. AFTER HOURS, SHE WAS SENTENCED TO LIFE. 1984. SHE APPEALED THE CASE, BUT IT WAS DENIED. 1989, THE PAROLE HEARING STARTED. THEY WALKED DOWN. THE SYSTEM DOESN’T WORK FOR THE VICTIMS, BUT 89, 91, 93, 95. FINALLY, SHE WAS PAROLED. IN 96. THAT WASN’T GOOD ENOUGH FOR SHE NOW WANTS TO BE COMPLETELY PARDONED TO THE CRIME. YEAH, THE PARDON HEARING IS TOMORROW IN MONTGOMERY. PAGE SAYS HE AND HIS ENTIRE FAMILY, ALONG WITH AN ARMY OF FRIENDS AND SUPPORTERS, ARE GOING TO BE THERE TO LET THE BOARD KNOW THEY ARE AGAINST THIS PARDON. WE’LL BE THERE AS WELL AND BRING YOU MORE ON THAT STO
