There will be no drama Thursday night when the San Antonio Spurs make their pick with the No. 1 overall selection in the 2023 NBA Draft. Victor Wembanyama is a lock.
Intrigue sets in with the No. 2 pick, however, when the Charlotte Hornets are on the clock.
Brandon Miller or Scoot Henderson?
ESPN analyst Jay Bilas says it comes down to perimeter shooting.
“I think they take Brandon Miller out of Alabama because he can shoot it,” Bilas told The Rich Eisen Show. “He’s 6-foot-9, very athletic, rebounds his position very effectively. He actually gets a number of rebounds of his own misses. He’s quick to the ball, but he can really shoot.
“He shoots it off the catch off the pick-and-roll situations. He’s pretty good at creating his own shot.”
Bilas compared Henderson’s numbers are better than Jalen Green’s G-League numbers, prior to being selected No. 2 overall in the 2021 NBA Draft.
“He can really attack in transition, off the dribble, playmaker for himself and others, really good passer,” Bilas said. “But he hasn’t figured out the shooting piece yet. He’s not a consistent perimeter shooter.”
