New airline now provides daily service from Birmingham's airport
A new airline is now offering non-stop service to southern Florida from Birmingham's airport.The Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport (BHM) released information stating Spirit Airlines is flying daily nonstop flights to Fort Lauderdale.“Spirit Airlines saw the opportunity here in Birmingham and is investing in this community,” said Ashby Pate, Board Chair of the Birmingham Airport Authority. “This is a great day for Birmingham and a testament to the growth we are experiencing here at the airport,” said Pate.Spirit Airlines is a low-fare carrier based in Dania Beach, Florida and this new service is the first time the airline has served travelers in Alabama.Around the country: National coverage from WVTM 13
