The Five Points South Entertainment District will soon have a new neighborhood pub. Wil Jones—the President of the Five Points South Neighborhood Association and a strong advocate for the neighborhood—plans to open Dobber’s Five Points Pub later this year.
A new neighborhood pub is coming to 5 Points South
On Tuesday, January 21, the Birmingham City Council approved the liquor license for Dobber’s Five Points Pub—and an upcoming neighborhood bar owned by Five Points South resident Wil Jones.
“[Dobber’s Five Points Pub] is a project I’ve been working on for a long time, and I’ve always wanted it to be in this neighborhood that I’m so passionate about.
A decade ago, Five Points South was a destination for everybody—not just city-dwellers, but for residents in surrounding municipalities. It was a very bustling area, and there were no empty buildings.
I want Dobber’s Five Points Pub to help contribute to bringing this area back to the considerable level of vitality that it once enjoyed.”
Wil Jones, Dobber’s Five Points PubThe new pub will be located at 1206 20th St S in a highly visible, street-accessible spot inside the Highland Point Plaza building. Inside, Wil plans to create a relaxed, welcoming environment for all guests.
“Dobber’s isn’t going to be a fancy cocktail bar—it’ll be a place where you can pop in after work for a drink, listen to some live music from local artists and meet new people.
My vision for Dobber’s is a place that highlights the best of Birmingham, with our local musicians being the key part of that.”
