New Orleans area-based accounting firm acquires Texas firm

Houston-based Gomez & Company has joined regional firm LaPorte CPAs & Business Advisors through an asset acquisition.

Gomez & Company President/Owner Benjamin Gomez has assumed a key leadership role as director in LaPorte, according to a news release

With the acquisition of Gomez & Company, LaPorte has over 190 employees and revenues of approximately $35 million.

Gomez & Company was established in 1985. The full-service certified public accounting firm’s client base includes primarily nonprofit organizations, charter schools, and those in the energy industry.

“We are so pleased to have these talented employees join our Houston team. Gomez & Company’s primary industry strengths dovetail well with our formalized industry groups and allows us to build on that client base,” LaPorte President and CEO Eric E. Bosch said in a news release.

“LaPorte’s culture and values are similar to ours and this strategic move enables us to offer expanded services to our clients as they face industry and regulatory changes,” Gomez said. “It also provides enhanced opportunities for our team members to develop professionally.”

Established over 75 years ago, LaPorte is an independent full-service accounting, tax, and business consulting firms in the Gulf South region.
