Each of the first rounds of the past 16 NFL drafts has included at least one player selected from Alabama. That’s the longest streak produced by prospects from one college program in the 89-year history of the event.
The Crimson Tide’s streak is two years longer than the second-best streak. Alabama broke the record of 14 consecutive drafts producing a first-round pick established by Miami (Fla.) from 1995 through 2008. Alabama’s streak started the year that Miami’s ended.
The Tide’s streak is expected to continue next week with linebacker Jihaad Campbell and guard Tyler Booker considered first-round prospects.
The first-round selections from Alabama during the streak include:
2009: Offensive tackle Andre Smith at No. 6 by the Cincinnati Bengals
2010: Linebacker Rolando McClain at No. 8 by the Oakland Raiders and cornerback Kareem Jackson at No. 20 by the Houston Texans
2011: Defensive tackle Marcell Dareus at No. 3 by the Buffalo Bills, wide receiver Julio Jones at No. 6 by the Atlanta Falcons, offensive tackle James Carpenter at No. 25 by the Seattle Seahawks and running back Mark Ingram at No. 28 by the New Orleans Saints
2012: Running back Trent Richardson at No. 3 by the Cleveland Browns, safety Mark Barron at No. 7 by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick at No. 17 by the Cincinnati Bengals and linebacker Dont’a Hightower at No. 25 by the New England Patriots
2013: Cornerback Dee Milliner at No. 9 by the New York Jets, guard Chance Warmack at No. 10 by the Tennessee Titans and offensive tackle D.J. Fluker at No. 11 by the San Diego Chargers
2014: Linebacker C.J. Mosley at No. 17 by the New York Jets and safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix at No. 21 by the Green Bay Packers
2015: Wide receiver Amari Cooper at No. 4 by the Oakland Raiders
2016: Center Ryan Kelly at No. 18 by the Indianapolis Colts

2018: Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick at No. 11 by the Miami Dolphins, defensive tackle Daron Payne at No. 13 by the Washington Redskins, linebacker Rashaan Evans at No. 22 by the Tennessee Titans and wide receiver Calvin Ridley at No. 26 by the Atlanta Falcons
2019: Defensive tackle Quinnen Williams at No. 3 by the New York Jets, offensive tackle Jonah Williams at No. 11 by the Cincinnati Bengals and running back Josh Jacobs at No. 24 by the Oakland Raiders
2020: Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa at No. 5 by the Miami Dolphins, offensive tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. at No. 10 by the Cleveland Browns, wide receiver Henry Ruggs III at No. 12 by the Las Vegas Raiders and wide receiver Jerry Jeudy at No. 15 by the Denver Broncos

2024: Offensive tackle J.C. Latham at No. 7 by the Tennessee Titans, outside linebacker Dallas Turner at No. 17 by the Minnesota Vikings and cornerback Terrion Arnold at No. 24 by the Detroit Lions

Twenty-six of the NFL’s 32 teams have drafted an Alabama player in the first round during the streak, with the Raiders selecting five and the Lions using a first-round selection in each of the past three drafts to acquire a Crimson Tide player.
The six teams that have not spent a first-round selection on an Alabama player during the streak are the Arizona Cardinals, Chicago Bears, Dallas Cowboys, Jacksonville Jaguars, Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Rams.
Forty-seven players have been picked in the streak, including 10 offensive linemen, nine defensive backs, eight wide receivers, seven linebackers, five running backs, four defensive linemen, three quarterbacks and one tight end.
The first round of the 90th NFL Draft begins at 7 p.m. CDT Thursday in Green Bay, Wisconsin. ABC, ESPN, ESPN2 and NFL Network will televise the event.
