Two former Alabama All-Americans had their seasons end with playoff losses last weekend. Now they owe the NFL money.
Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey and Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams were among nine players fined by the NFL for actions during Divisional Round games. The Crimson Tide pair got the biggest fines of the week, although neither was penalized on the field.
Humphrey was cited for unnecessary roughness (use of helmet) during the Ravens’ 27-25 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Jan. 19 and fined $45,020. That’s $2 short of doubling Humphrey’s first fine for that infraction -- $22,511 in a 35-34 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals on Nov. 7.

Williams also was fined for the second time this season for the same reason. Williams was cited for unsportsmanlike conduct (obscene gestures) for his celebration after scoring on a 61-yard run during Detroit’s 45-31 loss to the Washington Commanders on Jan. 18 and fined $25,325.
Williams’ first fine for that offense brought a $19,697 fine after a 52-6 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Humphrey was fined three times for $78,786 during the 2024 season. Williams was fined four times for $70,346 during the 2024 season.

The NFL uses a collectively bargained schedule of fines to determine the amount of monetary punishment. The NFL’s Schedule of Fines also comes with a list of aggravating and mitigating factors that can affect the size of a fine.
