One killed in small plane crash in north Alabama

Local and federal agencies are on the scene of a plane crash that killed one person in Marshall County Saturday afternoon.The Federal Aviation Administration told WVTM 13, "A single-engine Zenith 601XL crashed at a private residence in Albertville, Alabama."According to the (FAA), the pilot was the only person on board.The pilot was identified by the Marshall County Coroner's Office as John D. Lassiter, Jr., 75, of Crossville. In a statement, the coroner's office said, "He died when the aircraft he was flying crashed in the area of 1200 Mount Olive Road."The Marshall County Sheriff's Office, Douglas Police Department, and the Guntersville Fire Department assisted on the scene.The investigation is in preliminary stage, so no other information about the cause of the crash is yet available.The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will provide all further updates.
