TO COOL DOWN COMING UP, JARVIS JASON, THANKS. THIS SCENE LEADING TO CONTROVERSY IN BIBB COUNTY. A 12 YEAR OLD IN HANDCUFFS AFTER A SCUFFLE ON THE BUS AND HIS MOTHER IRATE WITH POLICE. NOW, ALL OF THIS HAPPENING IN FRONT OF A SCHOOL BUS WITH SEVERAL CHILDREN TO WITNESS IT. WVTM13’S LISA CRANE WORKING TO GET MORE CONTEXT TO THIS SITUATION. LISA, WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED. WELL, THE WOMAN SEEN IN THAT VIDEO IS BEHIND BARS RIGHT NOW IN THE BIBB COUNTY JAIL BEHIND ME. SHE IS FACING SEVEN CHARGES. THE MOST SERIOUS IS SECOND DEGREE ASSAULT. AND BECAUSE OF THAT CHARGE, SHE WILL NOT BE RELEASED ON BOND. THE CENTREVILLE POLICE CHIEF HAS TURNED THIS CASE OVER TO THE STATE BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION. NO MATTER WHO YOU BELIEVE ESCALATED THIS INCIDENT, IT IS DISTURBING TO WATCH AND IT WAS MIDDLE SCHOOL CHILDREN WHO HAD FRONT ROW SEATS, MANY OF THEM DOCUMENTING THE ALTERCATION WITH CELL PHONE CAMERAS. THE WOMAN SEEN HERE IS LATRIVIA CRUISE. WE SPOKE TO HER MOTHER TODAY. ALL THAT WAS UNCALLED FOR. THAT’S MY ONLY DAUGHTER, MY ONLY DAUGHTER. AND SHE’S NOT A MAN. YOU HAD NO RIGHT TO PUNCH A MAN THAT WAY. BUT FOR YOU TO SLAM MY DAUGHTER TO THE GROUND, PUNCHING HER IN THE FACE AND SELMA OFFICER JUST STANDING AROUND AND ALLOWING IT, IT’S NOT RIGHT. CRUISE CAME TO THE SCENE TO CHECK ON HER 12 YEAR OLD SON WHO HAD ALLEGEDLY BEEN HANDCUFFED BY POLICE AFTER A FIGHT ON THE SCHOOL BUS. THE CENTREVILLE POLICE CHIEF WOULDN’T COMMENT ON THE CASE, SAYING AALIYAH IS NOW IN CHARGE. BUT THE CITY’S MAYOR ASKED THE COMMUNITY TO WITHHOLD JUDGMENT UNTIL THE INVESTIGATION IS COMPLETE. VIDEOS CAN BE INTERPRETED, HOWEVER YOU WANT TO INTERPRET THEM. SO I REALLY DON’T HAVE ANY COMMENT OTHER THAN, YOU KNOW, IT’S AN UNFORTUNATE INCIDENT. YOU KNOW, WE DON’T WANT ANYTHING LIKE THAT TO HAPPEN. BUT CRUISE FAMILY AND FRIENDS ARE OUTRAGED. THEY PROTESTED TODAY AT THE COUNTY JAIL, COURTHOUSE AND POLICE DEPARTMENT. NO JUSTICE, NO PEACE. HER MOTHER SAYS THE OFFICERS INVOLVED SHOULD BE FIRED. I WANT THEM TO GET WHAT THEY DESERVE. THEY DESERVE THEM BADGES AND BADGES NEED TO BE TAKEN FROM THEM. NOW, ONE OF THE OFFICERS, THE ONE SEEN STRADDLING MS. CRUISE IN THAT VIDEO, IS ON ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE PENDING THE OUTCOME OF THE INVESTIGATION. THOSE PROTESTERS WE SPOKE WITH TODAY SAY THEY WILL BE BACK OUT HERE TOMORROW SUPPORTING LATRIV
