Police search for person who shot Hueytown man while he was tending to his dogs

A Hueytown man is in the hospital after being shot while he was tending to his dogs Saturday morning.Police were called just before 8:00 a.m. to the 2400 block of Cherry Avenue on a report of a person shot. When they arrived at the home they found the man with gunshot wounds, according to police. Hueytown Fire and Rescue treated him and took him to UAB hospital, where his condition is unknown. Officers learned that the victim was outside tending to his dogs when an unknown person approached him and opened fire.The man was able to get back to the house where others called 911. Detectives believe this was a targeted shooting.
