
Police: Woman dead, after husband holds family hostage in Fultondale
The father was holding children and his wife hostage in a domestic situation
There was a large police presence in a Fultondale neighborhood Saturday afternoon after a man barricaded himself inside a house with his family.Police say the domestic situation unfolded around 12:40 p.m. on Enclave Circle in the Chapel Hills area.Four children under 12 were in the home with their parents when one of them ran out and asked a neighbor to call police.Police say when they arrived, a female answered the door, then two shots were fired at officers from inside the home. Police believe the man shot his wife during the ordeal. The children were held inside for several hours but were finally released late in the afternoon.Police used flash bangs and gas to get the man out of the house.They say he had a gun when he was taken into custody but that was done peacefully.Other family members were at the scene to take custody of the children.
