Popular Birmingham-area Books-A-Million store closes

Birmingham-based Books-A-Million has closed its Fultondale location.

One of the anchor retail stores at the Promenade Fultondale on Lowery Parkway, the popular bookstore (3429 Lowery Pkwy, Fultondale, AL 35068) is the third Books-A-Million location to close in the Birmingham metro area since 2020. The other sites were near the Highway 280 corridor at Brookwood Village and  Brook Highland.

The departure of the Fultondale location leaves only two remaining stores at the next locations:

Books-A-Million — an Alabama original

Headquartered in The Magic City, Books-A-Million is the second largest bookseller in the U.S. with over 260 locations. Founded in Florence, Alabama 108 years ago in 1917, the company was named an Alabama Centennial Retailer by the Alabama Retail Association.
