WE CAME HOME AROUND LIKE. 940 ISH, AND WE SAW LIKE A TRUCK COMING DOWN THE STREET, BUT DIDN’T THINK ANYTHING OF IT. BUT WHAT HAPPENED NEXT SHOCKED ELLIOTT. THE CAR SLOWED DOWN AND STARTED SCREAMING. WHITE POWER, WHITE EFFING POWER, WHITE POWER. AND JUST REPEATEDLY, REPEATEDLY, AS IF THEY WANTED A REACTION. AND IT WAS ALL CAUGHT ON THE FAMILY’S RING. DOORBELL ELLIOTT SAYS HER FIRST THOUGHT WAS GETTING INSIDE HER HOUSE ALIVE IF THEY FELT THE NEED TO BE SO BOLD IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT WITH THE ONLY TWO BLACK PEOPLE THEY SEE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET, THERE’S NO TELLING WHAT THEY COULD HAVE DONE LAST NIGHT. ELLIOTT SAYS SHE COULDN’T SEE WHO SHOUTED THE SLUR IN THE DARK, BUT HOPES TALKING ABOUT THE ENCOUNTER WILL CHANGE SOMEONE’S HEART. WE DON’T KNOW IF THEY’RE, YOU KNOW, 16 YEAR OLDS OR 22 YEAR OLDS, BUT IF THERE’S SOMEBODY OUT THERE THAT RECOGNIZES THAT VOICE AND CAN SIT THEM DOWN AND SAY, HEY, THIS IS YOU, I KNOW IT’S YOU, THIS IS WHY THIS IS WRONG, LIKE, THAT’S GOING TO MAKE A WORLD OF A DIFFERENCE. HER MOM SAYS THE FAMILY ISN’T LIVING IN FEAR. SHE’S JUST GRATEFUL NO ONE WAS HARMED BY SOMEONE ELSE’S UNPREDICTABLE ACTIONS. IF YOU DID REACT, WHAT WOULD HAPPEN? WOULD THEY PULL OUT A GUN? A Black woman from Homewood got a shocking greeting Monday night. Door camera footage reveals someone shouting a white supremacist rallying call.Felita Wilson posted about her daughter’s experience on Facebook. She's hoping to send a message that she and her family be made uncomfortable in their home, and they won't be forced out.“We’re not leaving anytime soon, but we just will not tolerate being harassed and intimidated," Wilson said. It was a quiet Monday night for Felita Wilson’s daughter Jourdan Elliott at their family home near Valley Drive in Homewood. “We came home around like 9:40ish,” Elliott said, “and we saw a truck coming down the street but didn’t think anything of it.”But what happened next shocked her. “The car slowed down and started screaming, ‘White power! White effing power! White power!’ and just repeating as if they wanted a reaction,” Elliott said.The encounter was all caught on the family’s Ring doorbell. Elliot said her first thought was getting inside her house alive.“If they felt the need to be so bold in the middle of the night with the only two Black people they see in the middle of the street, there’s no telling what they could have done last night,” Elliott said.Elliot said she couldn’t see who shouted the slur in the dark but hopes talking about the encounter will change someone’s heart.“We don’t know if they’re 16 -year-olds or 22-year-olds,” Elliott said. “But if there’s somebody out there that recognizes that voice and can sit them down and say, 'Hey, this is you. I know it’s you. This is why this is wrong.' That’s going to make a world of a difference.”Her mom said the family isn’t living in fear. She’s just grateful no one was harmed by someone else’s unpredictable actions.“If you did react, what would happen?” Wilson asked. “Would they pull out a gun? Would they have shot at you? Would they have thrown something on you? Would they have thrown on something at you?
