Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost’s Parenting Debate Gives Rare Glimpse Into Their Marriage
Live from New York, it's...Colin Jost!
The Saturday Night Live comic surprised Scarlett Johannson during her stint as Jenna Bush Hager's guest cohost for the Today show's fourth hour Jan. 22, showing up with a massive bouquet of flowers for his wife before competing against her for the show's "The Great Debate" game.
"Thanks, babe!" the Black Widow actress said as Colin entered the studio before joking that he tried to "slice" her with the flowers. "Are you trying to sabotage me with these so I can't get to the buzzer fast enough? I feel like I've won Miss America with these."
After passing the flowers off so she could play the game more freely, Scarlett—who shares daughter Rose, 10, with ex-husband Romain Dauriac and son Cosmo, 3, with Colin—nestled up to her husband and put her head on his shoulder, thanking him once more for the sweet gesture before ribbing him again.
"This is my job now!" she said of her Today stint. "You have to do the cereal every morning, is that okay?"
When Jenna asked if the Weekend Update cohost gave his wife any advice about being on TV, he called attention to Scarlett saying on her first day of hosting that she feels "gypped" that Colin doesn't send her love letters and instead declared, "Not even gonna tell you which kinds of emojis I'm getting."
"I didn't give her any advice," Colin said. "I feel like I had to bring flowers on, because yesterday out of the gate she was like, 'He never writes me a love letter, he just sends me sexual emojis.' I was like, 'What?!' That was the first thing you said!"
The Fly Me to The Moon star shot back, "I didn't use that word, you interpreted it that way."

The couple—who wed in 2020—then took turned debating topics like themed parties, who the better children's book reader is.
“I guess I would say me,” Colin laughed before trolling his wife’s profession. “You know how actors sometimes do a whole acting thing and they tend to sort of make it all about them? I’m not naming names, but just actors in general.”
“I feel like I let the literature shine,” he continued. “I let the author speak through me, I’m a vessel.”
But Scarlett disagreed, noting that their kids “want the mama’s touch” and even ask her to do the voices of book characters. As she put it, “I’m winning.”

Another hot topic? A reference to something that Colin has done, buying the Staten Island ferry.
"All I can say is that if anybody out there would like to start a GoFundMe for the Staten Island ferry, please be my guest," Scarlett jokingly argued. "I don't know if I'm speaking for the Staten Island ferry or against it, but help our family. This has now become a telethon for support[ing] the Staten Island ferry."
