Second suspect arrested in alleged abuse of disabled adult in Shelby County
Another suspect was arrested in an investigation of alleged abuse of a disabled person.The Shelby County Sheriff's Office first reported Cora Morris, 69, of Wilsonville, was charged Dec. 10 with neglect/abuse of a disabled adult, which is a felony.The sheriff's office said the arrest comes after a report was filed in September 2024 alleging a woman with an intellectual disability was possibly being abused by another family member during their service as a caregiver.The SCSO said as the investigation continued, a court order allowed the removal of the victim from a home, leading up to Morris' arrest.The sheriff's office then announced a second suspect was arrested two days later.That suspect was identified as James Moss, 62, of Wilsonville.Moss and Morris both face the same charge and both were booked and bonded out of jail, the SCSO said.Your neighborhood: Local coverage from WVTM 13
