We Can't Unsee This 'Sex and the City' Dress Error with Kim Cattrall
Sarah Wynter couldn't help but wonder how different her appearance on Sex and the City could have been.
After all, the actress—who appeared as the character Elizabeth in the HBO show's pilot episode—was originally cast alongside one of late President John F. Kennedy's nephews to play out the series' first-ever sex scene.
“I remember the person that they had cast to play the boyfriend was not the person that wound up getting the job on set,” Sarah explained during a Jan. 19 appearance on Kristin Davis' podcast Am I A Charlotte. “So, I was surprised when I got on set."
As for which Kennedy she was expecting? The Goliath alum shared that she was initially set to star opposite Christopher Lawford, who was the son of English actor Peter Lawford and President Kennedy’s sister, Pat Kennedy Lawford.
“He was at the read-through," Sarah continued. "And I remember thinking ‘That’s perfect.’ To have, like, this Kennedy—not Kennedy-esque, Kennedy.”
However, in the end, Christopher—who also starred on All My Children and went on to write several books about his struggles with addiction before his death in 2018 at age 63—wound up getting replaced onscreen by actor Scott Bryce.
"What happened? I want to know," Sarah confessed. "Did he become unavailable? Did something happen? None of us knew."

And that wasn't the only memory that came to mind from filming the pilot of Sex and the City, which first premiered in June 1998. Kristin—who is currently reprising her role as Charlotte York on the sequel series And Just Like That—also recalled being confused over a request that the crew made while shooting Sarah's nude scene.
“The day that you had to do that nude scene, I was in the hair and makeup trailer getting ready,” she told Sarah. “One of the makeup artists came running in, like, ‘We need cups of ice for Sarah Wynter’s nipples!’ We were like, 'What is going on?'"
Luckily, Sarah didn't get overwhelmed by the whole ordeal. As she remembered, “I was trying to be so cool and calm and collected, but they needed ice.”
