WVTM 13's Celebration of Holiday Lights
MONTH. ALL SEASON LONG, WE’RE HEADING ACROSS CENTRAL ALABAMA TO BRING YOU SOME OF THE MOST UNIQUE HOLIDAY LIGHT DISPLAYS IN OUR AREA, AND IT’S ALL PART OF OUR HOLIDAY LIGHTS TOUR. AND THIS WEEK WE WENT OUT TO CHERRY AVENUE RIGHT HERE IN BIRMINGHAM TO MEET WITH THE DEVASHER FAMILY. WE GOT THE CHANCE TO HEAR FROM THEM ABOUT THE INSPIRATION BEHIND THEIR ELABORATE DISPLAY. EACH AND EVERY YEAR. SO WE STARTED IN SEPTEMBER. WE STARTED PLANNING EVERYTHING MATTHEW AND AMBER DEVASHER ARE PROUD OF THEIR CHRISTMAS LIGHTS DISPLAY AT THEIR CHERRY AVENUE HOME. IT’S SOMETHING HE BECAME INSPIRED TO DO WHEN HE WAS A CHILD. AGAIN IN MOUNT OLIVE. HIS NAME WAS HARRY CRANE AND UNFORTUNATELY HE’S PASSED AWAY NOW. THEY EVEN HAD A PIECE FROM THAT PERSON’S DISPLAY IN THEIRS. ALTHOUGH ALL INSPIRING, THEY HAVEN’T PUT OUT CHRISTMAS LIGHTS IN A WHILE. MY WIFE GAVE ME THE IDEA OF IT TO GET BACK INTO IT AFTER OUR HOUSE FIRE IN 2020, A FIRE THAT STARTED IN THE ATTIC DESTROYED THEIR FESTIVE DECOR. WE LOST EVERYTHING BACK IN 2020. WE LOST OUR EQUIPMENT. WE LOST OUR ALL OF OUR LIGHTS AND OUR WIREFRAMES. WE LOST EVERYTHING. BUT HIS WIFE AMBER FELT IT WAS TIME TO RESTART THE TRADITION. WE’VE BEEN HERE ABOUT ALMOST TWO YEARS AND I SAID WE HAVE THE SPACE, YOU KNOW, WE’VE GOT THE THE TIME. I SAID, I THINK YOU COULD DO IT AGAIN BECAUSE YOU’RE ALREADY EXPERIENCED. AND NEEDLESS TO SAY, COUNTLESS HOURS HAVE BEEN SPENT TO MAKE THIS DISPLAY WHAT IT IS TODAY, INCLUDING THE TIME USED TO SYNCHRONIZE MUSIC. AND WE’VE HAD SO MANY PEOPLE COME BY AND STOP AND WATCH OUR LIGHT SHOW, AND IT’S AMAZING BEING ABLE TO SPREAD JOY AND INSPIRE OTHERS TO JOIN IN ON THE FUN MAKES THIS CHRISTMAS SEASON ANOTHER ONE TO REMEMBER. IT MOTIVATES THE NEIGHBORS TO THE NEIGHBORS THAT HAD NO LIGHTS, AND NOW THEY’RE PUTTING UP THEIRS. AND NEXT YEAR THEY PLAN TO ADD A 30 FOOT MEGA TREE TO THE DISPLAY. NOW, IF YOU WANT TO BE ON OUR NEXT HOLIDAY LIGHTS TOUR, STOP, ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS SEND US PHOTOS OF YOUR DECORATED HOME. YOU CAN DO SO BY SCANNING THE QR CODE ON YOUR SCREEN OR CLICKING THE ICON, AND YOU CAN DO SO ON OUR WEBSITE OR INSIDE OF THE FREE APP. YOU CAN UPLOAD A PICTURE TO BE FEATURED IN OUR ONLINE PHOTO GALLERY. KEEP IN MIND AND JUST REMEMBER, WE’RE GOING TO GO LIVE FROM ONE OF THE LOCATIONS SUBMITTED EACH FRIDAY THROUGH JANUARY 3RD. I BET YOU AFTER PUTTING UP THE TREE NEXT YEAR, EACH YEAR IT’S GOING TO GET BIGGER AND BIGGER AND BIGGER, AND IT’LL JUST BE FABULOUS. OH, IT’S GOING TO BE AMAZING. THEY SAID 30 FOOT MEGA TREE NEXT YEAR. YEAH, I’M EXCITED. HOPEFULLY THEY’LL WE’LL HAVE

Christmas Lights at Palisades Park
"We wrapped 250 to 300 trees I think. It's fun getting to come out here and contribute to that and knowing everybody that's driving through here is going to be looking at the stuff we put out and what we made and painted and put together."
Easterling Light Extravaganza, County Road 491 in Clanton, Chilton County
"The Easterling Light Extravaganza has grown from one display in 2001 to over 30 today. All because of the excitement in the eyes of one child named Madison."
Wells Creek Lane in Ralph
"My family and I have been decorating every year for 13 years and every year we get bigger. Our dream is to own land one day and it be a huge thing."
Wynlake Lake in Alabaster
"We have 8400 lights, 102 objects of homemade wooden cutouts, metal art, and pvc designs. Very traditional setup with everything from the Nativity, Santa land, characters, and more."
Cherry Avenue in Birmingham
"My inspiration to start doing this to begin with was a guy in Mount Olive. His name was Harry Crain, and unfortunately, he's passed away now. But ever since I was little, I watched this show and he had the most wireframes out of anyone in town. And, ever since then, I've always wanted to do it."
Griffin Park Trace in Shelby County
"We enjoy it our kids love it, kids in the neighborhood love it so we can bring the joy to the kids around here. We don't mind doing it a bit it's fun."
