Alabama’s newest brewery, Steele Hall Brewing, opened this weekend in Historic Downtown Trussville (227 Main Street, Trussville, AL 35173).

Bham Now was there on a bright sunny Saturday afternoon to check out the place and talk to co-founders Eric Mitchell and Scott Worthington.

Atmosphere

Steele Hall officially held a soft opening on Friday, April 21st and by the next day you could tell word had gotten out. The place was buzzing.

Mitchell told us they wanted to create a special outdoor space and atmosphere.

“We wanted to create a kind of country club feel. We really want to accentuate the outside where people can come and hang out.”

As you can see in the video clip and photo below – there is a green space for people to play (think cornhole) and seats lining the sidewalk and Main Street.  It is a nice comfortable great place to strike up a conversation.

About the Beer

Along with the inviting and family-friendly atmosphere, Steele Hall rolled out the five staple beers patrons can expect on the menu each and every day.

They are:

  • Bama Beer – American Lager — crisp, lemon light
  • Felice Birra – Italian Pilsner — lemon-lime, crisp, toast
  • Malachite – Wheat Ale — lime, meringue, crisp
  • Camellia – IPA – nectarine, orange, juicy
  • Hyperscale – Sour Ale W/Dragonfruit and Passionfruit — tropical, tart, vibrant

These five beers will also be available to take home in cans.

According to Worthington, fans of Steele Hall can expect more and more beers to come on line beginning in a week or two.

“We’re gonna have a lot more to offer. We will be releasing at least one new beer a week. So don’t get used to seeing the same five beers, there is gonna be a lot more. We’re gonna experiment, play around and have a lot of fun stuff on tap.”

Fulfilling a Dream

Opening Steele Hall fulfills a dream for Mitchell, who is a native of Trussville and Worthington, who now lives in the bustling town.

“Ever since I started brewing the dream was to get back home and do something like this,” Mitchell said.  “We owe a lot to the people that laid the groundwork for the entertainment district, Mayor Buddy Choat, the city and the pioneers that opened the businesses. They opened my eyes to what we can do here.”
