Days after the Something Borrowed actor shared he had been diagnosed with cancer for the third time, he gave an update on how he was doing after undergoing surgery.
"First check up post surgery," Egglesfield captioned a photo of himself holding up a fist on Instagram Jan. 23. "Things are on track and I’m feeling positive."
The 51-year-old went on to reflect on the emotional ups and downs that he's been experiencing since learning that he had prostate cancer, years after battling two rounds of testicular cancer in the aughts.
"I go through these phases where I’m feeling good and then other phases where this is all so overwhelming," Egglesfield explained. "It’s hard to describe this feeling which is a combination of gratitude, fear, hope, frustration, anger, and folly."
"Some moments I feel like it’s all good and I’m able to move forward," he continued, "and others I’m halted and unable to understand what is going on and how I’m supposed to integrate new realities into my life."
The All My Children alum shared some wisdom he's learned while overcoming this latest challenge.
"What’s helped is slowing down and finding space to voice what’s really swirling in the background of all of this without comment of it or trying to fix it," Egglesfield said. "Just letting it out and let it be what it is."
"I keep having to remind myself that it’s okay to feel what I’m feeling and to let it be," he added, "knowing that this is part of the healing and that without it, healing can be stunted."

The Client List actor called out that "you don’t always have to be a hero and have it all figured out. Most heroes don’t."
"It’s okay to let your guard down," he shared, "and let other heroes answer the bat signal for a while."
Egglesfield's inspiring update came two days after sharing his diagnosis with the world.

“Thankfully, we caught my prostate cancer early,” he shared in a Jan. 21 Instagram post, “and after a year of doing a lot of research and talking to quite a few health care professionals, I elected to be proactive and have surgery.”
“I’m still a bit sore but I’m making progress and am determined to come back stronger and healthier than ever especially with the help of my sexy walker,” the actor joked. “It all starts with a decision to commit to what you decide to be with whatever you’re facing. I decide to be RESILIENCE, FAITH, COURAGE, GRACE and INSPIRATION. What do you choose to be?”
