'Suits: L.A.' Spinoff Casts Its New Star
Suits fans aren't going to object to this news.
The first trailer for the beloved series' upcoming spinoff Suits LA dropped Jan. 24, and it teases the return of Gabriel Macht , who played Harvey Specter on the original show for all nine seasons.
Stephen Amell takes center stage as the show's protagonist Ted Black, "a former federal prosecutor from New York, has reinvented himself representing the most powerful clients in Los Angeles," according to a November press release for the series. However, that New York connection isn’t all Ted and Harvey share as the end of the new trailer shows Ted and pal Kevin (Troy Winbush ) looking at an old photo that shows him on what appears to be a baseball team with Harvey, implying a history with one another.
At the end of the new trailer, Ted and another character look at an old photo that shows him on what appears to be a baseball team with Harvey, implying that they have a history with one another.
"Remember this guy?" Kevin asks. "I never liked him, the only person I knew that was cockier than you."
To which Ted muses, "Harvey, from the old days. That's exactly why I liked him."
The tease reflects what Gabriel had previously posted announcing his appearance in the upcoming spinoff back in November, writing, "When an old friend is in need. It's time to take care of things and make those very 'things' right."
In addition to introducing Ted, the trailer also provides the first look at Stephen's costars Lex Scott Davis , Josh McDermitt and Bryan Greenberg , who play his colleagues on the show.
"It’s different out here," Ted says at one point, seemingly comparing it to New York City, where the original show took place. "People lie, they cheat, they do whatever they can to win."
And the location isn’t the only star power in the new show as guest stars Patton Oswalt , Brian Baumgartner and Enrico Colantoni —who had previously been confirmed to be appearing on the series as themselves—are also teased in the new footage, while Victoria Justice makes a splash as a movie star named Dylan Pryor.
As for whether or not fans can expect other beloved Suits characters to return for the spinoff, they’ll will just have to watch and find out. That being said, some of the actors have already expressed interest in appearing on Suits LA with creator Aaron Korsh .
"I've volunteered," Patrick J. Adams , who played Mike Ross on Suits told Today in October. "We've put our hands up. We've said, 'Let us in!' They're in the process of doing the first season now. I was texting with Aaron yesterday. It's going great."
Sarah Rafferty , who played Donna Paulsen throughout the series' run, is also game to jump back into the world of Suits .
"If Donna is needed, I'm happy to put the shoes on," she exclusively told E! News that same month. "I might need them to be a little shorter since it's been a long time after Covid."
