Tonight, it will be clear, cool, and comfortable. Lows will range from the lower to upper 50s.

On Wednesday, high pressure will build eastward from the Plains to the Southeast U.S. It will be mostly sunny and warmer with low humidity as northerly winds persist. High temperatures will be unseasonably warm in the mid-80s.

Thursday and Friday will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy and warm, with low humidity levels. High temperatures will stay in the mid-80s each day. The dry weather pattern worsens the ongoing drought. Please, NO burning across Central Alabama. It will not take much to spark a fire. It will be less cool at night, with lows in the upper 50s to lower 60s.

Weekend Outlook: The area of high pressure will shift northeast of Alabama, allowing southerly winds to return, making it more humid. A cold front will move toward Alabama during the day, leading to partly to mostly cloudy conditions, and we could see a few showers late in the day. It will remain warm, with highs in the mid-80s.

The cold front will track across Alabama Saturday night into Sunday morning, bringing a line of showers and thunderstorms. Some storms could be strong or possibly severe, with gusty winds. We will monitor how this pattern develops throughout the week. Currently, the severe threat is low. Rain totals will be around 0.5 inches to 1.5 inches.

This will help ease the drought, but it will not eliminate it. By Sunday afternoon, conditions will become drier, partly cloudy, and cooler, with highs around 80. Sunday night will be mostly clear and cooler, with lows back in the 50s.

Talladega Race Weekend: The weather will be good—warm and dry—for the races on Friday and Saturday. The cold front will bring rain Saturday night into Sunday morning. Any Saturday night events will be quite wet. Right now, it looks like the rain will clear out in time for the 1 PM Sunday race, with temperatures only in the 70s.
