Spring doesn't officially begin until Thursday, March 20. NEAR-RECORD WARMTH NEXT WEEK Alabama looks much warmer next week, along with most of the southeast. Warm moisture from the Gulf will drift into Alabama starting Tuesday and lasting through the weekend. This warm air flowing into Alabama will lead to highs climbing to the mid-to-upper 70s, compared to the normal high of 57 degrees. With highs climbing near 20 degrees above average next week, will Birmingham break any records?The records to beat next week for Birmingham scrape the upper-70s. Light showers could return as early as Tuesday. Isolated storms could develop Wednesday, but most of Alabama will stay dry. A stronger wave associated with a weak cold front will push into Alabama Thursday night into Friday morning. Still, rain may halt for the southern half of the state. Rainfall totals for the next seven days will remain under half an inch. A few isolated showers could linger Saturday, but Alabama looks mostly sunny.
