These 2 Alabama cities had record high temperatures today

More very warm temperatures are expected on Saturday across Alabama, with many spots getting into the 70s and even 80s.National Weather Service

At least two Alabama cities added to their weather record books on Friday.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham said Montgomery had a high temperature of 81 degrees on Friday. That was warm enough to tie the record for Feb. 7, which was last reached in 1957.

Montgomery’s temperature was 18 degrees above the average for early February, according to weather service data.

The National Weather Service in Mobile reported that Mobile had a high temperature of 80 degrees on Friday, which broke the record of 79 degrees set in 2019.

Mobile’s temperature on Friday was 16 degrees higher than the average for Feb. 7, according to the weather service.

Some other temperatures from Friday:

* Anniston: 77 degrees, 20 degrees above average (record is 80 in 2019)

* Birmingham: 78 degrees, 21 degrees above average (record is 79 in 2019)

* Huntsville: 65 degrees, 10 degrees above average (record is 78 in 2019)

* Muscle Shoals: 59 degrees, 4 degrees above average (record is 79 in 2019)

* Tuscaloosa: 80 degrees, 22 degrees above average (record was 82 in 2019)

More record-breaking or tying temperatures will be possible across the state on Saturday, which could end up being the warmest day of the week. (See Saturday’s forecast at the top of this post.)
