Top Permits: Convention Center undergoes over $80M in interior renovations

A look at the top commercial and residential permits for the period of November 16-December 5 in Orleans Parish and November 22-December 5 in Jefferson and St. Tammany Parishes.

The Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in Orleans Parish is undergoing an impressive transformation with $80.5 million in interior renovations.

These updates, led by Aecom Hunt | Broadmoor, reflect the city’s ongoing commitment to maintaining its position as a premier destination for conferences and events.

Nearby, the Central Business District sees significant investment in multifamily and commercial spaces.

A $6.1 million build-out at 827 Carondelet St. will bring a 34-unit multifamily development to life, while the Hutchinson Building on Tulane Avenue will transform part of its seventh floor into lab spaces with nearly $3 million in permits.

In Jefferson Parish, a $40 million multifamily development at 1600 Promenade Blvd. in Marrero will transform the former Belle Promenade mall site into The Waters at Promenade, a modern 324-unit apartment complex. Spearheaded by STOA Construction, the project will feature 10 buildings, a clubhouse, pool, patio, dog park, and covered parking areas.

With plans to open the first units by late 2025, this development highlights the reimagining of suburban spaces into vibrant residential communities.

In St. Tammany Parish, BSD Construction has been permitted to construct a new commercial building at a permitted value of $4 million.

This location on Asbury Drive is just behind the large Emerald Corner shopping center at the interchange of Highway 190 and N. Causeway Blvd.
