Train hits SUV in Cordova, several crossings closed

BNSF Railroad train collided with the vehicle at the crossing on Main Street.

CORDOVA, Ala. —

Several train crossings are closed Saturday night after a collision between a train and an SUV.

Cordova Public Safety said a BNSF Railroad train collided with the vehicle at the railroad crossing on Main Street beside the post office.

The Main Street crossing, Highland Avenue (behind the Piggly Wiggly), and the River Road crossing near Warrior River were all closed as of 6:05 p.m. The crossings will likely be closed for the next several hours.

Anyone traveling in the area should use an alternate route.

The crossing at Highland Street West below the nursing home is open.

There were no injuries reported.

Cordova Police Department and Parrish Police Department are on scene investigating the incident.
