Troy running back Damien Taylor is set to enter the NCAA transfer portal, according to a report Monday from On3 Sports.
Taylor rushed for 1,010 yards and seven touchdowns for the Trojans in 2024. A Northport native, has one season of college eligibility remaining after redshirting as a true freshman in 2021.
With Taylor’s departure, sophomore Jordan Lovett, senior Jarris Williams and transfer Jamontez Woods are the only other scholarship running backs on Troy’s offseason roster. The Trojans signed two high school running backs in their 2025 class — Dakarai Shanks of Spain Park and AC Walters of Alabama Christian Academy in Montgomery.
The transfer portal opens for 10 days beginning Wednesday. Players may enter the portal at any time prior to April 26, but are not required to choose a destination during that window.
Troy finished spring practice this past Saturday. The Trojans went 4-8 in 2024 under first-year coach Gerad Parker.
