A new Tulane University Police Department (TUPD) station will open at 1036 Broadway St.

The intention for the station is to allow officers more time to respond to incidents within the service area.

A news release touts the opening as “a critical step toward enhancing safety for the uptown campus and neighboring Central Carrollton and Maple Street residents.”

The grand opening is slated for Wednesday, August 9.

“The station will be fully staffed by Tulane police officers who will be available onsite 24/7 to serve both the Tulane community and neighbors,” the news release reads. “This new location significantly enhances the university’s ability to protect the Tulane community and strengthens its collaboration with the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) in patrolling areas surrounding the uptown campus.”

Tulane has over 80 commissioned, state-certified police officers who also patrol a mile perimeter around both the uptown and downtown campuses.
