Law enforcement officers converged into a Calera neighborhood Monday, to investigate a shooting incident.The Calera Police Department said officers were dispatched just after 3 p.m. to Merimeadows Drive, in a neighborhood near 8th Avenue in western Calera.Police found two shooting victims at the scene.The police department said one victim was sent to UAB Hospital by helicopter and the other victim went by ambulance.The CPD said two suspects were located and taken into custody within about 20 minutes.There is no indication of the severity of the victims' injuries at this time."Shootings like this are a rare occurrence in Calera and we want to keep it that way... Our goal is to conduct a thorough and complete investigation and refer the individuals responsible for prosecution through the Shelby County DAs Office," said Chief David Hyche.The Shelby County Major Crimes Task Force was called to assist Calera Police at the scene.This is a developing story and will be updated as information becomes available.
