UAB's 24th annual 'Into the Streets' day of service
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) hosted its 24th annual "Into the Streets" day of service on Saturday, Sept. 9.Student volunteers participated at various sites across Birmingham, including Glen Iris Elementary School.At least 20 volunteers helped with maintenance duties of the school's yard. UAB's Leadership and Service Council member Bharat Bhaskar attended today's event as one of the site leaders.Bhaskar said over 300 volunteers participated in Into the Streets, helping communities across Birmingham in any way possible.Other sites that received services from student volunteers were The Birmingham Zoo, East Lake Farmers Market, and Greater Birmingham Ministry.
