Statistics issued by the U.S. Bureau of Labor show that by 2031, employment opportunities in the radiologic technology and nursing industries will increase by 6 percent. The University of Holy Cross and LCMC Health have partnered to propel this initiative in both career sectors to educate aspiring specialists in health care to prepare for the job market.
Both curricula offered at UHC are described by campus administrators as two of the fastest growing programs.
“At UHC we’re committed to partnering with community healthcare organizations to use our available healthcare programs to train and educate students to fill areas of one of the fastest growing industries in the near future,” said Dr. Stanton McNeely, UHC President, in a news release. “This new agreement with LCMC will prepare UHC’s students for a competitive job market and to fill much needed jobs in growing healthcare sectors in New Orleans and beyond.”
The collaboration will commence in the 2024-2025 academic school year. It offers tuition assistance to students in the university’s Radiologic Technology program for up to ten full-time enrollees, and students in the BSN Nursing program for up to twenty full-time enrollees.
The University of Holy Cross is a fully accredited Catholic university founded in 1916 and offers undergraduate, graduate and certificate programs in more than 50 areas of concentration. LCMC Health is a nonprofit healthcare system of providers to include various research and acute care hospitals throughout Southeast Louisiana.
