The Bessemer Police Department is investigating a shooting that killed a 13-year-old boy. The police department tells WVTM 13 someone shot him Friday night just before 10 p.m. Officers found him inside of a home on 13th Street North. Investigators believe unknown suspect(s) shot into the home the teen was in. First responders took him to the hospital, where he later died. At this time, there have been no arrests.Bessemer's mayor posted a statement on social media Saturday:"No parent should have to bury their child, and no community should have to endure such senseless acts of violence. We are just four days into the new year, and already our city has experienced two tragic homicides. This is unacceptable.
