South Alabama football coach Kane Wommack traveled to Washington, D.C., to meet with both of Alabama’s U.S. Senators regarding possible modifications to Name, Image and Likeness legislation in the sport.

Tommy Tuberville, Alabama’s senior senator and the former head coach at Auburn, has been at the forefront of the movement for a federal standard regarding NIL, which is currently governed on a school-by-school and state-by-state basis. He met with Alabama head coach Nick Saban on the same subject earlier this summer before welcoming Wommack on Tuesday.

Katie Britt, Alabama’s junior senator, also met with Wommack on Tuesday. Britt’s husband, Wesley, played at Alabama in the early 2000s.

Tuberville and Britt both tweeted late Tuesday afternoon about their meetings with Wommack, who is heading into his third year as Jaguars head coach.

Following his meeting with Saban, Tuberville announced plans to draft an NIL bill and present it to Congress. Tuberville is working alongside West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin, a lifelong friend of Saban’s.
