NEW SCHOOL YEAR. THERE’S NOTHING QUITE LIKE GETTING A FRESH HAIRCUT. THE SCHOOL’S STARTING UP. YOU GOTTA LOOK YOUR BEST. HOWEVER, ONE DAY A GROUP OF KIDS CAME INTO HILLSBOROUGH MAIN STREET, BARBER SHOP THAT MADE HENRY PROCTOR WANT TO GIVE BACK. IT WAS PROBABLY 3 OR 4. THEY ALL GOT HAIRCUTS, AND THERE’S ONE KID JUST LEFT OUT AND I’M LIKE, ARE YOU NEXT? AND HE’S LIKE, I WISH, MAN, BUT I JUST CAN’T AFFORD IT. WE NEVER HAVE MONEY. AND THAT JUST CRUSHED ME. THAT GAVE HENRY AN IDEA. THE NEXT MORNING I WOKE UP AND IT WAS JUST LIKE GOD PUT INTO ME TO GIVE FREE HAIRCUTS. HENRY OWNS MAIN STREET BARBER SHOPS IN ANTRIM AND HERE IN HILLSBOROUGH AND LOVES BEING ABLE TO GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY HE LOVES. WE DON’T HAVE A LOT OF MONEY, SO WE DON’T REALLY GIVE A LOT OF MONEY OUT. BUT THIS WAS A UNIQUE WAY WHERE WE COULD HELP KIDS. JUST A BLESSING AND THANK GOD FOR IT ALL. LOVE THE VULNERABLE CITY OF OF IT, TO BE HONEST, PEOPLE THAT WOULDN’T NORMALLY JUST COME OUT. NOW, HENRY AND LIZZIE HAVE CUT UP TO 30 KIDS HAIR FOR FREE AND ARE DOING THIS UNTIL THE END OF AUGUST. IT GOES TO SHOW THAT’S THAT MANY KIDS THAT WOULD NOT HAVE HAD A HAIRCUT FOR SCHOOL 52 WEEKS IN A YEAR. THINK WE CAN GIVE TWO OF THOSE WEEKS AWAY TO KIDS IN NEED? ARE YOU READY? HENRY AND LIZZIE HAVE A MESSAGE TO THOSE WHO NEED A FREE HAIRCUT BUT AREN’T SURE ABOUT COMING IN. DON’T FEEL EMBARRASSED. JUST COME ON OVER. GLAD TO HELP. A barbershop owner in New Hampshire is helping kids who may be tight on money get a free haircut before the start of the new school year.Henry Proctor owns Mane Street Barber Company with locations in Hillsboro and Antrim. One day a group of kids came in that made Proctor want to give back. "There were probably three to four of them. They all got haircuts and there was one kid who was left out. I was like, 'Are you next?' He said, 'I wish, but I just can't afford it. We never have money.' That just crushed me," Proctor said.So far, Proctor and Lizzy Nute have cut up to 30 kids' hair for free and are doing it until the end of August."Just goes to show that there's that many kids who wouldn't have a haircut for school," Proctor said.Proctor and Nute have a message for those who need a free haircut but aren't sure about coming in."Don't feel embarrassed, just come on over. We're glad to help," Nite said. Proctor wants to do this every year two weeks before the school year.
