Video: Teen rescued from fast-moving waters of California river
THAT DAY. WELL, TONIGHT, IMAGES YOU’RE ONLY GOING TO SEE HERE ON KCRA THREE. THIS IS FROM LIVE COPTER THREE. YOU’RE WATCHING A DARING WATER RESCUE IN SACRAMENTO COUNTY. IN THE LAST HOUR, RESCUE CREWS WERE ABLE TO SAFELY BRING A TEENAGER GRASPING A TREE IN THE MIDDLE OF A RUSHING RIVER SAFELY TO LAND. WELL, THESE ARE, AGAIN, IMAGES YOU’RE ONLY GOING TO SEE HERE TONIGHT. I’M GULSTAN DART AND I’M EDIE LAMBERT. SO LIVECOPTER3 WAS OVER THE RIVER IN RANCHO MURIETA. CREWS RUSHED IN TO PULL THAT MAN TO SAFETY. BUT IT WAS A DELICATE OPERATION. LIVECOPTER3 ARRIVED JUST BEFORE 5:00. WE COULD SEE THAT MAN GRASPING TO A TREE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RIVER. OFFICIALS SAY HE HAD BEEN ON A RAFT, BUT HE FELL OFF. HE WAS NOT WEARING A LIFE JACKET. SO WHAT YOU SEE THERE WAS JUST AFTER CREWS WERE ABLE TO THROW HIM A LIFE JACKET AND THEN HE WAS ABLE TO PUT THAT ON WHEEL, STILL HOLDING ON TO THE TREE. SO FOR SEVERAL MINUTES WE WATCHED LIVE HERE AT 5:00 AS RESCUERS WERE TRYING TO COME UP WITH DIFFERENT WAYS ON HOW TO GET THAT MAN OVER TO THE SHORE SAFELY. AND THEN JUST BEFORE 520, A RESCUER THEN WENT OUT IN THE RAPIDS, JOIN THE MAN THERE AT THE TREE A FEW SECONDS LATER, THE RESCUER THEN PULLED HIM OFF, HOLDING ON TO HIM AS THE MAN HELD ON TO THE ROPE. THERE THEY GO. RESCUERS THEN PULLED HIM TO AN AREA WHERE THEY COULD SAFELY GET THEIR FOOTING. THE MAN AND RESCUERS IS JUST KIND OF TAKING A BREATH BEFORE WALKING TO A NEARBY PARKING LOT. THE MAN WAS TAKEN TO AN AMBULANCE AND CHECKED OUT AND LOVED ONES WERE THERE TO MEET HIM. WE HAVE A CREW IN RANCHO MURIETA RIGHT NOW CONTINUING TO FOLLOW THIS STORY AND JUST VERY THANKFUL. IT APPEARS THAT TEENAGER,
