WEBSITE. THE STATE FUNERAL FOR FORMER PRESIDENT JIMMY CARTER CONTINUES TODAY. THE PUBLIC VIEWING OF HIS FLAG DRAPED CASKET ENDED JUST ABOUT AN HOUR AGO. WVTM 13 JARVIS ROBERTSON IS LIVE AT THE CARTER PRESIDENTIAL CENTER IN ATLANTA THIS MORNING, WHERE PEOPLE HAVE COME TO PAY THEIR RESPECTS. JARVIS. YEAH. GOOD MORNING, CARL AND SARAH. SO WITHIN THE LAST 15 MINUTES, I DID LEARN THAT OVER 22,000 PEOPLE HAVE SHOWED UP BETWEEN SATURDAY AND TODAY TO PAY THEIR RESPECTS TO FORMER PRESIDENT JIMMY CARTER, BECAUSE SO MANY PEOPLE HAVE SHOWED UP, THEY ARE JUST NOW STARTING TO WRAP UP THAT PUBLIC VIEWING. NOW, MANY OF THE PEOPLE THAT CAME OUT, THEY LEFT BEHIND THINGS LIKE FLOWERS, HARD HATS WITH PERSONALIZED MESSAGES, BAGS OF PEANUTS, BECAUSE WE KNOW THAT THE FORMER PRESIDENT WAS A PEANUT FARMER. SO MUCH MORE JUST TO HONOR THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF CARTER. NOW THE JOURNEY GETTING TO ATLANTA. IT DID START ON SATURDAY WITH THE HEARSE STOPPING BY HIS CHILDHOOD HOME. THERE IS WHERE THEY EXPERIENCED A BELL RINGING, WHICH YOU ALL CAN HEAR RIGHT NOW. A TOTAL OF 39 TIMES TO COMMEMORATE JIMMY CARTER BEING THE 39TH PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. AND ALSO TO NOTE, BEFORE HE WAS A PRESIDENT, HE WAS A STATE LAWMAKER AND GOVERNOR RIGHT HERE IN THE STATE OF GEORGIA. NOW, SO MANY PEOPLE LINED THE STREETS IN THIS PROCESSION AT DIFFERENT PARTS, HOLDING UP DIFFERENT SIGNS AND WAVING FLAGS AGAIN TO HONOR JIMMY CARTER, THE PERSON WHOM MANY PEOPLE LOVE AND RESPECTED. NOW WITH THAT, HIS BODY BEING IN REPOSE SINCE SATURDAY, WE KNOW THAT SO MANY PEOPLE HAVE TRIED TO MAKE THEIR WAY HERE TO THE CARTER PRESIDENTIAL CENTER. ONCE THE BODY DID ARRIVE HERE SATURDAY, THERE WAS A PRIVATE CEREMONY THAT WAS HELD FOR FAMILY AND INVITED GUESTS. AS I MENTIONED, SO MANY PEOPLE HAVE COME THROUGH RIGHT NOW. WE ARE WAITING FOR A DEPARTURE CEREMONY THAT IS GOING TO TAKE PLACE AT AROUND 11:00 EASTERN TIME THIS MORNING, REPORTING LIVE IN ATLANT

The weather in Atlanta hasn't been the nicest for the last three days.However, that didn’t stop the more than 23,000 people who showed up to pay respects to the late President Jimmy Carter. An uninterrupted public viewing started Saturday and lasted until Tuesday morning.>> YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD: Community coverage from WVTM 13A departure ceremony was held for Carter Wednesday morning in the Circle of Flags, which were all half staff.As the flag draped casket was ceremoniously escorted from the building, the Army Band played Hail to the Chief, Amazing Grace, and Blessed Assurance. The weather in Atlanta hasn't been the nicest for the last three days.

A departure ceremony was held for Carter Wednesday morning in the Circle of Flags, which were all half staff.
