I’M GLADYS BAUTISTA NEW AT FIVE WITHIN THE LAST HOUR. WE’RE LEARNING ONE PERSON IS DEAD IN ALABASTER AFTER A FIGHT OVERNIGHT LED TO A SHOOTING. ALABASTER. POLICE SAY OFFICERS RESPONDED TO THE SHELL GAS STATION ON HIGHWAY 31 RIGHT OFF OF INTERSTATE 65, AROUND 11:45 P.M. SATURDAY. WHEN THEY GOT THERE, THEY FOUND ONE PERSON SHOT. THE CORONER CONFIRMING TO US IT IS NOW A HOMICIDE. NO WORD YET ON WHETHER POLICE HAVE ANYONE IN CUSTODY

Alabaster police announced an ongoing investigation after responding to a business late Saturday night.The police department said officers were called to the Shell gas station on Highway 31 near the I-65 exit about 11:30 p.m. Nov. 2 to investigate an altercation in progress.The Alabaster Police Department (APD) said officers found one person suffering from a gunshot wound.The Shelby County Coroner's Office reported the incident was a homicide.The APD said detectives are gathering and reviewing the facts and may issue a news release once that process is complete.The police department said there is no risk to the public in regard to this investigation.Your neighborhood: Local coverage from WVTM 13
