Birmingham City Schools held summer hiring fair to fill various positions

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —

The Birmingham City Schools system recently held a summer hiring fair to fill several positions for the upcoming school year.

Candidates arrived at Parker High School on June 22 and were able to speak with local school leaders and district administrators about their future in the school system.

"This is a very important time for us because we know there are many recent college graduates in our area, as well as others looking to make a career change," said Superintendent Mark Sullivan. "We are seeing improvement in student achievement, and we hope to attract new employees who can work along with our existing team to continue our students' academic progress."

According to a news release, the school district is recruiting teachers in all academic areas, including special education, career tech, music, math, science and more.

Career opportunities were also available for bus drivers, school nurses, child nutrition staff and custodians.
