Birmingham man dies a day after being shot in Germania Park area

The Birmingham Police Department is investigating the city's 133rd murder of 2024.The police department reported DeCarlos Smith Jr., 22, of Birmingham, died at UAB Hospital Nov. 22.Police said Smith suffered an apparent gunshot wound a day earlier in the 300 block of 25th Street Southwest about 6:45 p.m.That is in the city's Germania Park community.The BPD reported Smith was found lying in the roadway and was taken to the hospital for treatment.Investigators are working to find new details and no one is in custody at this time.Stay up-to-date: The latest headlines and weather from WVTM 13

The police department reported DeCarlos Smith Jr., 22, of Birmingham, died at UAB Hospital Nov. 22.

Police said Smith suffered an apparent gunshot wound a day earlier in the 300 block of 25th Street Southwest about 6:45 p.m.
