Birmingham mayor proclaims July 1 as 'UAB Day'

Birmingham's mayor is helping UAB celebrate its' induction into the American Athletic Conference in style.On Tuesday, Mayor Woodfin presented a proclamation to the school's athletic department and spirit squad, signifying the importance of the program ahead of its move to the AAC on Saturday.The Blazers have been one of the most competitive teams in Conference USA for years, with several recent success stories and athletic accomplishments fueling the move to to the AAC.Stay up-to-date: The latest headlines and weather from WVTM 13 As part of the UAB Day celebration, several Birmingham buildings and landmarks, including Protective Stadium, Sloss Furnace and Regions Field, will light up green and gold to support the school.Follow us on social: Facebook | Twitter | Instagram | YouTubeUAB Day will be celebrated every year on July 1.
