Less than a month before the Black Eyed Peas were scheduled to start their 15-show residency in Las Vegas, the band members announced a change of plans.

Black Eyed Peas Cancel Las Vegas Residency Due to “Current Circumstances”

It turns out, the Black Eyed Peas will not be getting it started in Las Vegas.

Less than a month before the band’s 15-show residency was scheduled to kick off at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino’s PH Live in Las Vegas, members will.i.am, Apl.de.Ap and Taboo posted an unexpected update on social media.

“To our dearest Peabodies,” the trio wrote Jan. 19 on their Instagram Stories. “It is with a heavy heart that, in light of current circumstances, our Las Vegas shows will not be moving forward as planned.”

“Ticket providers will issue full refunds automatically,” they continued. “Stay tuned for updates on future performances by following us — we can’t wait to see you again.”

The residency, which was dubbed Black Eyed Peas: 3008 The Las Vegas Experience, was first announced in September and was said to feature an AI named Vida that would perform alongside the band.

“Our first residency in Las Vegas gives Black Eyed Peas the opportunity to do what we do best,” will.i.am said in a statement at the time, “to dream up something brand new and creative that pushes the boundaries of the live show experience.”

As for the AI member of the band? Well, it looks like Vida will never get the chance show off her boom boom pow—though the trio’s ideas for the hologram were uniquely futuristic.

“With a hologram, you have to experience it with a hologram projector, so you could only do that when the show is in Vegas,” will.i.am told USA Today in September. “When we have an AI member of the Black Eyed Peas, you can engage and communicate 24/7.”

“Our member of the group will be patched into every band member, stage hands and the audience,” he added, “if they want to engage with her.”

And it turns out, the inspiration for their extravagant plans came from none other than Taylor Swift and her Eras Tour.

“I was blown away. I haven’t been this inspired in so f--king long,” will.i.am said of the pop superstar’s two-year-long world tour. “That’s when I said, I need to start dreaming and go to work.”

“What cues can we take from Empress Swift when we approach our Vegas show? That camera she has? I’ve never seen a group or artist do that,” he gushed. “I’ve seen a network do it and the Super Bowl do it. I’m watching the most awesome theatrical pop culture film at a show. Of course she’s talented, but she gives you all this emotion in that format. It’s flawless execution.”
