Birmingham City Councilor JT Moore was charged with DUI while driving a city-owned vehicle in a Mobile suburb over the weekend.Creola police Chief Shane Stringer told WVTM 13 that they received calls about a driver moving dangerously slow on Interstate 65 north around 3:50 a.m. Sunday. When officers arrived, Stringer said the vehicle was pulled over on the shoulder of the interstate. Officers found the driver, identified as Moore, passed out behind the wheel, smelling of alcohol, Stringer said.Following a breathalyzer test, Moore posted a blood alcohol content level of 0.12, which is well above the legal limit of 0.08. Stringer said they ran the license plate of the vehicle Moore was driving, and it came back as being owned by the city of Birmingham.Moore was charged with DUI, booked into the Mobile Metro Jail and released on a $1,000 bond. Attempts to find out what official city trip Moore was on in Mobile and to receive a statement from the Birmingham City Council have not been answered.Moore defeated incumbent William Parker to win the District 4 seat in 2021 and is a member of the Birmingham Public Safety Committee.
