A former Mobile County sheriff’s sergeant charged last month with theft and forgery may have lined his pockets by fudging how many hours he worked overtime, his former employer said.
The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office said they sent ex-Sgt. Daniel Holifield’s time records to the district attorney’s office for investigation, according to Fox 10.
The office claimed Holifield, a 24-year veteran of the law enforcement agency, had multiple discrepancies in reporting his hours, including several instances where the former sergeant entered regular and overtime for the same hours.
Holifield, 49, was charged in April 2ith three counts of first-degree theft of property and 10 counts of second-degree forgery.
He allegedly forged signatures to obtain titles to vehicles confiscated by the sheriff’s office.
