REALLY COOL HERE W VTM 13 PATSY DOUGLAS LIVE AND LOCAL ON THE EFFORTS. PATSY SOME OF THESE MUSICAL UNDERSERVED YOUTH IN THE BIRMINGHAM AREA ARE GETTING A FUN THING TO DO NOW. TELL US MORE. OH, YES. THIS NEW EXPANSION PLAN WILL CREATE A EDUCATIONAL RECORDING STUDIO. NOW THIS HAS INSPIRED MANY YOUTH HERE IN OUR CITY TO START THEIR MUSIC CAREER. I’M LIVING IN AVONDALE, WHERE THE CITY IS GRITTY. I LOVE SEAFOOD LIKE OYSTERS AND CRABS. AND WHEN I’M AT THE FIREHOUSE, YOU KNOW, I LIKE THE COLOR. MY FAVORITE COLORS ARE. THE FIREHOUSE COMMUNITY ARTS CENTER, CREATING A PLATFORM FOR YOUNG, TALENTED PEOPLE TO BE SONGWRITERS EACH WEEK AT THE FIREHOUSE, MORE THAN 80 STUDENTS TAKE INDIVIDUAL LESSONS FROM PROFESSIONAL MUSICIANS LEARNING GUITAR DRUMS AND EVEN THE KEYS. DARIUS RAY IS ONE OF MANY STUDENTS WHO HAS HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE WITH THE CENTER FOR ALMOST A YEAR NOW. IT’S BEEN AN OUTLET WHERE HE’S ABLE TO PUT HIS FOCUS ON SOMETHING POSITIVE. I HOPE WE GET MORE PEOPLE THAT ARE OUT AND LIKE IT, GET MORE PEOPLE, LIKE MORE KIDS THROUGHOUT AND LIKE AND STOP ALL THE VIOLENCE AND MAKE RAPPING POSITIVE FOR FOR KIDS TO. LOVE THAT. NOW RAY HOPES TO MAKE A CAREER OUT OF BEING A MUSICIAN IN THE NEAR FUTURE. THE CENTER IS LAYING THE FOUNDATION FOUNDATION FOR HIM AND OTHER STUDENTS TO MAKE THIS POSSIBLE. THEY RECENTLY RECEIVED MORE THAN $20,000 FROM THE ALABAMA STATE COUNCIL ON THE ARTS TO HELP BUILD THIS NEW STUDIO. AND THEY’RE REALLY HOPING TO PUSH THOSE EFFORTS FORWARD REALLY SOON. AND HELP THE MUSIC SCENE. OF COURSE, THIS STUDIO IS EXPECTED TO BE DONE IN JANUARY OF 2024. BACK TO YO

The firehouse community arts center creates a platform for young talented people to be songwriters. Each week at the firehouse, more than 80 students take individual lessons from professional musicians, learning guitar, bass, drums, and keys.Exective director, Eric Wallace their mission right now is getting kids off the streets and seeing their dreams become reality. “Some of the most powerful connections I’ve witnessed in my life are young folks connecting over something like music emotion compassion that as a child you are able to see past those barriers” Wallace, said.
