YOUR FORECAST IN JUST A BIT. BUT HOPEFULLY YOU HAVE A PLAN TO STAY COOL OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS WHEN TEMPS ARE EXPECTED TO HIT TRIPLE DIGITS AND IF YOU HAVE PETS, YOU’LL DEFINITELY NEED A PLAN FOR THEM, TOO. WVTM 13. LISA CRANE IS LIVE IN BIRMINGHAM. AND LISA, EXTREME TEMPERATURES LIKE WE’RE EXPECTING CAN BE DEADLY FOR OUR PETS AS WELL. YEAH, THAT’S RIGHT. AGAIN, YOU KNOW, PEOPLE CAN SUFFER IN THE HEAT JUST OR ARE ANIMALS RATHER JUST LIKE PEOPLE CAN AND SO IF YOU HAVE OUTDOOR PETS, YOU NEED TO MAKE A PLAN FOR THEM OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS. YOU MIGHT THINK YOUR OUTDOOR DOG OR CAT CAN HANDLE THE WEATHER, BUT AN EXTREMELY HOT DAY CAN BE DEADLY FOR THEM, JUST LIKE IT CAN BE FOR PEOPLE. WE GET A LOT OF CALLS ABOUT DOGS HAVING SYMPTOMS OF STROKE AND PEOPLE DON’T REALIZE THAT’S WHAT’S HAPPENING. HEAT STROKE. SO REALLY THIS WEEK YOU PROBABLY NEED TO BRING YOUR DOG INSIDE BASEMENT OR GARAGE OR IN YOUR HOUSE IF YOU DON’T HAVE REALLY GOOD SHADE. COOL AREA FOR THE DOG TO GET TO. SO YOUR OUTDOOR PETS NEED SHADE, A WELL VENTILATED SHELTER AND ACCESS TO COOL DRINKING WATER. EVEN IF YOU BRING THEM INDOORS, YOU’LL MOST LIKELY STILL HAVE TO TAKE THEM OUT FOR WALKS THOUGH, SO DON’T FORGET THEIR BAREFOOT AND ASPHALT CAN BE 50 DEGREES HOTTER THAN THE AIR TEMPERATURE. IT CAN INJURE THE PATHS AND IT CAN BURN THEM. AND YOU’LL KNOW THAT BECAUSE THEY’LL START LICKING THEM A LOT. THEY WON’T GET UP AND WALK AND YOU WON’T KNOW WHY. IF YOU REALLY WANT TO PAMPER YOUR PET DURING THIS HEAT WAVE, HOW ABOUT A DOGGY WATER PARK? THIS ONE AT HUMPHREYS DOG RESORT IN LAKEVIEW SEEMS TO BE MAKING A SPLASH. IT’S A GREAT WAY TO COOL THEM DOWN. WE HAVE POOLS ON THE OUTSIDE, BUT AT THE SAME TIME, IT’S OUTSIDE. IT’S 100 DEGREES. SO HAVING A TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED AREA WITH THE ADDED WATER THAT KEEPS THEIR BODY COOL FOR THE REST OF THE DAY. SO IT’S A GREAT WAY TO GET THEIR DAY STARTED AND GET SOME ENERGY OUT. YEAH, AND IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO BRING YOUR PETS INSIDE OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS AND YOU CAN’T GET TO THAT WATER PARK AND YOU DON’T HAVE WHAT YOU NEED TO KEEP YOUR PETS SAFE OUTSIDE, CONTACT YOUR LOCAL ANIMAL CONTROL OR ANIMAL SHELTER. AND OFTENTIMES THEY CAN HELP YOU
