Former Walker County deputy pleaded guilty in teen's death after ATV crash in 2019

UPDATE: April 12, 2023:According to court documents, Blake Hudson entered a plea of guilty to one count of manslaughter in the death of the teenager.Hudson, a former deputy with the Walker County Sheriff's Office, received a sentence of 8 years suspended with 5 years supervised probation, with the remainder of the probation being unsupervised.---------------------------------August 6, 2019: UPDATE: The 14-year-old boy injured in an ATV crash involving a Walker County sheriff's deputy has died, WVTM 13's Larissa Scott confirms.Authorities have not released the teen's name yet. Grab the WVTM 13 app for the latest on this developing story. —A 14-year-old boy was rushed to Children's Hospital Friday night with serious injuries from an accident involving his ATV and another vehicle in Jasper.The wreck happened at 10:51 p.m. on Highway 69 South at the intersection of Old Tuscaloosa Road. It involved the ATV driven by the teen and another vehicle driven by a deputy with the Walker County Sheriff's Office.The deputy was taken to Walker Baptist Medical Center.No word on the extent of their injuries.Walker County Sheriff Nick Smith issued this statement on Facebook.Alabama State Troopers are investigating the crash at the request of the Jasper Police Department.
