COOLING STATIONS NEAR YOU. YEAH, WHO DOESN’T LOVE A BEAUTIFUL 4TH OF JULY FIREWORKS DISPLAY? WELL, YOUR PET FOR ONE, RIGHT? THAT SOUNDS LIKE THEY. THEY COULD DRIVE A DOGS AND CATS INSANE. THE SOUND. ANYWAY, WITH JULY 4TH RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER, NOW IS THE TIME TO START THINKING ABOUT PROTECTING YOUR LITTLE FOUR LEGGED FRIENDS. WTM THIRTEEN’S LISA CRANE IS LIVE FOR US IN BIRMINGHAM TONIGHT. LISA, YOU DON’T WANT TO PUT THIS OFF BECAUSE REALLY IT COULD HAPPEN TO ANYONE. YEAH, IT HAPPENS TO A LOT OF PEOPLE EVERY YEAR. TWO BRITNEY FOLKS HERE AT THE GREATER BIRMINGHAM HUMANE SOCIETY ARE EXPECTING TO BE VERY BUSY ON THE MORNING OF JULY 5TH. THEY SAY THEY’RE GOING TO BE INUNDATED WITH CALLS THAT DAY LIKE THEY ARE EVERY YEAR ON JULY 5TH FROM DESPERATE PET OWNERS WHO ARE SEARCHING FOR THEIR LOST DOG OR CAT. BUT YOU CAN TAKE SOME STEPS NOW TO PROTECT YOUR PET OVER THE VERY LOUD HOLIDAY. MANY PEOPLE CAN’T CELEBRATE INDEPENDENCE DAY WITHOUT FIREWORKS, BUT THERE’S A GOOD CHANCE YOUR FOUR LEGGED FRIEND IS NOT A FAN. ALL THEY HEAR IS A VERY, VERY LOUD BOOM AND THEY DON’T KNOW WHY. SO IT CAN CAUSE EXTREME ANXIETY, OBVIOUSLY JUST SCARE THEM, MAKE THEM BOLT. IT EVEN HAPPENED TO THE DIRECTOR OF THE GREATER BIRMINGHAM HUMANE SOCIETY RECENTLY. WE DIDN’T KNOW SHE WAS OUTSIDE. AND WE JUST WE JUST PLAYED WITH SOME LITTLE CHILD LIKE NOTHING BIG, JUST LITTLE POP POPS. AND SHE FREAKED OUT AND RAN AND WE COULD NOT FIND IT HAPPENED TO ME THIS PAST WEEKEND. SO IF IT HAPPENED TO ME AGAIN, ANYBODY. THANKFULLY SHE FOUND HER DOG A FEW HOURS LATER. BUT IF IT HAPPENS TO YOU, THIS IS THE FASTEST WAY TO GET YOUR LOST PET BACK WITH A QUICK AND PRETTY MUCH PAINLESS SHOT. THIS PUP IS NOW MICROCHIPPED, SO WHEN HE’S FOUND ANY VETERINARIAN OR ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER CAN SCAN HIM AND SEE WHO HE BELONGS TO AND WHERE HE LIVES, IT ALLOWS US TO RETURN THE ANIMAL AS SOON AS WE FIND IT, WE RETURN IT IN FIELD. AND THERE’S NO QUESTION THAT IT’S YOURS, SALVO SAYS. OF COURSE, THE GOAL IS TO KEEP YOUR PET FROM GETTING SCARED AND RUNNING AWAY, SO YOUR BEST BET IS TO KEEP THEM INSIDE AND AWAY FROM THE SCARY FIREWORKS. NOW HERE ARE SOME GOOD NEWS FOR YOU THIS SATURDAY, JUST IN TIME FOR THE 4TH OF JULY HOLIDAY, GBS IS GOING TO BE MICROCHIPPING DOGS AND CATS FOR FREE. THEY’RE GOING TO BE AT CAHABA BREWING COMPANY IN BIRMINGHAM FROM NOON UNTIL TWO THIS SATURDAY. AND IF YOU CAN’T MAKE IT, THEN THEY’RE GOING TO BE AT THAT SAME PLACE AT THE SAME TIME EVERY SATURDAY THROUGH JULY.
