THEY JUST TURNED ON THE LIGHTS RIGHT NOW. BUT THIS IS A PERFECT TIMING FOR YOU TO SEE IT. LULU GRIFFIN IS HERE. SHE JUST TURNED THE ON SWITCH TO LIGHT UP THE BIRMINGHAM ZOO. IT’S BEAUTIFUL. IT’S OFFICIALLY THE HOLIDAY SEASON THIS MARKS THE START OF CHRISTMAS SEASON HERE IN BIRMINGHAM. A WONDERFUL EVENT, REALLY BEAUTIFUL LIGHT DISPLAY. AND WE HAVE LEARNED THAT THIS IS THEIR FIFTH YEAR. BUT THEY CHANGE OUT THE LIGHTS EVERY SINGLE YEAR. SO IF YOU MAYBE CAME LAST YEAR, COME BACK AGAIN THIS YEAR AND YOU’RE GOING TO SEE ALL DIFFERENT STUFF. SO VERY EXCITING. A WONDERFUL FAMILY ACTIVITY. A LOT OF CHRISTMAS SPIRIT HERE AND PRETTY CHILLY OUT HERE RIGHT NOW AS WELL. I DO WANT TO MENTION THAT LULU GRIFFIN AND HER FAMILY ARE STANDING RIGHT BEHIND US RIGHT NOW. YOU MAY REMEMBER LULU WAS A SURVIVOR OF A SHARK ATTACK EARLIER THIS YEAR. SHE LOST A HAND AND A LEG IN THAT SHARK ATTACK. SHE HAS JUST BEEN SO COURAGEOUS AND JUST SUCH AN INSPIRATION FOR HER JOURNEY OF RECOVERY THROUGH THIS. SO THAT’S WHY SHE’S HERE TODAY, HELPING US GET ALL IN THE HOLIDAY SPIRIT. Lulu Gribbin kickstarts Christmas at the Birmingham Zoo, flips the switch for Glow Wild
The Birmingham Zoo is kickstarting Christmas with a bang, and they've got a local hero to help them out.On Friday night, the annual Glow Wild event returns for the holidays and Lulu Gribbin and her family have the honor of lighting up the Zoo's larger-than-life animal lanterns.The Mountain Brook teen lost her leg and a portion of her arm when she survived a bull shark attack in the Gulf earlier this year and her resilient road to recovery has captured the hearts of thousands.Just a few weeks ago, less than six months after the attack, Gribbin got back in the water to surf for the first time.
